Love

Thanksgiving day, what am I thankful for? The list is endless. Top on the list however, due to it’s fresh nature, is finally living with my mum after six long years. Today marks one week since I arrived safely at the United States and was reunited with my mother and darling brother. (Thankful)

As I go through my list of things am thankful for, there’s one common denominator that keeps popping up. You guessed it, love. Alot has been written about love in the bible. In my opinion, love is the very essence of our being. God created us in love. When we sinned and went against Him, love brought us back. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)  Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. (John 15:13)

When I think about the love of God I’m overwhelmingly greatful. But it’s even more overwhelming when I get to experience it first hand. As earlier indicated, I recently left home. This entailed seeking out my friends and family to bid farewell. Before I left I had alot of time to do this and trust me, I did it to the best of my ability. I went to any family function I could find, attended gigs with friends, Went into town randomly to see who I might bump into, visited different churches. I even did house calls. Much as I tried, I didn’t even get halfway through my list of friends and loved ones.

It’s one thing for someone to be your brother. It’s a whole other story when that brother is your bestfriend all your life. (S/O to my darling brother Muiru). And then there’s that friend who you can only see as a brother/sister. (S/O to Julz n Juma). When I look around me, all I see is love and I know that God is there with me always. Special S/O to all my friends n the world, I am grateful for you because you are my gift from God. This Thanksgiving, I am thankful for love.

Now where’s that turkey?
